Grease Monkey Franchisees Paul and Tinker Hulsey Treat Everybody, From Employees to Customers, Like Family

Paul and Tinker Hulsey

The Fayetteville-based franchisees have opened their hearts and doors to members of their local community.

Paul and Tinker Hulsey are much more than outstanding Grease Monkey franchisees—they are the owners of a true family-run business. Most people don’t look forward to the task of getting their vehicle serviced. The Hulseys set out to change that by operating a business committed to Grease Monkey’s values of efficiency, transparency and trustworthiness. As the premier quick-lube service in the automotive segment, Grease Monkey truly sets itself apart through the work of valued franchisees like the Hulseys who strive to provide customers with peace of mind.

“We are a family-owned and operated franchise,” said Tinker Hulsey. Before franchising with Grease Monkey, Tinker’s background was in real estate while her husband Paul worked in management. Tinker is a third-generation business owner, and their son Josh has even joined the team in their operation. “Josh has been a huge asset to us as Operating Manager,” said Paul. “He is responsible for maintaining inventory of supplies, hiring new employees, setting direction for future growth and assuming any duties on the floor to keep things running smoothly.” Eventually, Josh will take over the business when Tinker and Paul retire.

Brittany, Josh’s wife, also contributes to the business as Book Administrator. “She is responsible for payroll and operating QuickBooks,” said Paul. “Her exceptional organizational skills have also allowed her to play a big part as our Fleet Coordinator. She provides support on the floor as needed.”

If you were to stop by the Hulsey’s Fayetteville, Arkansas location, you’re likely to see Josh and Brittany’s two sons, Jacob and Jace, running around and lending a helping hand as well. “We hope the boys will also one day take on some shop duties when they get older,” said Paul. “As you can see, our family is very hands-on within the business.”

“We decided to franchise with Grease Monkey because of our belief that success is achieved with the great customer service that Grease Monkey is well known for,” said Paul. “We loved how Grease Monkey was there every step of the way as we opened our business. The ongoing training for ourselves and our team has been crucial for our continued growth.”

Paul went on to say that, especially during the first year, this support from the Grease Monkey executive team was critical. “The entire team and our Regional Manager John Vant went above and beyond to ensure our success,” said Paul.

Of course, Paul noted that their loyal employees are the backbone to the success of their shop. “We have a team concept which Tinker and I are a part of,” said Paul. “Our employees are family to us, and we all have the common goal to make the business the best it can be.”

“Our focus is to ensure our customers have a good experience during their visit,” said Paul. “We open the door for the customers with a pleasant greeting, and we have an open dialogue with the customer to communicate their vehicle needs.” Paul chalks is up to what they like to call simple “Southern hospitality.”

The Hulseys are a prime example of the kind of good-natured, down-to-earth dedication that makes Grease Monkey a unique franchise within the industry.

“Tinker and I have created a culture of great customer service, which in turn creates growth,” said Paul. “It’s good for the business—and what is good for the business is good for our team. We also believe in giving back to our community. We support our military, schools, church groups and contribute to charities that are close to our hearts.”
